The heartbreaking news has been confirmed by the beloved social media star's family, the Mirror reports.

The popular Dominican Republic-born influencer - celebrated for her message of self-love and her vibrant social media presence - had amassed more than 6.6 million Instagram followers under her stage name Killadamente.

Her younger sister, Khatyan, also an influencer with 130,000 followers, confirmed the devastating news in a heartfelt Instagram post. Sharing a photo of the two of them on a plane, she wrote: "I love you sister and I will always love you. I give thanks to God for giving me a sister like you with your big heart. Rest in peace my sister."

In a tearful video address, Khatyan thanked supporters, saying: "To all the people who are sending me messages of condolences, I want to thank you a lot for being there and for your support. And thank you also for supporting my sister while she was still alive."

The Mirror - along with other news outlets - are currently reporting that Acosta is believed to have choked while having dinner, which led to cardiac arrest.

However, as of this writing, the exact cause of Acosta’s death remains uncertain as her family awaits autopsy results.

A cousin revealed on social media: "I know everyone wants to know what happened, but we still are not too sure and we are awaiting the post-mortem results.

"All I know is that she was having dinner as normal and she began to choke and have difficulties breathing. She had an attack of some kind, she was taken to hospital, but they couldn’t save her."

Acosta’s journey was one of overcoming challenges. After moving to the United States at age 12, she endured bullying due to her weight but transformed her pain into a platform for self-acceptance.

Her comedic content and inspiring messages resonated with millions.

In 2017, she released a song titled 'Me Amo y No Me Importa' ('I Love Myself and I Don’t Care'), celebrating self-worth and resilience. The lyrics included: "I’m different, and they call me Killadamente. Even if I fall down, I suddenly get up again. I’m brave, I’m a bit arrogant. I take care of myself a lot, because I’m the one who stands up for myself.”

Just months before her death, Acosta revealed she had turned her life around, embracing faith and giving up drugs. In June, she shared: “I repented, I died, I was born again. And my brothers and sisters, I am now proudly free from sin. God forgave me and it feels so good to be free from the anxiety and depression that used to force me to take drugs and do things I didn’t want to do.”

Acosta was a devoted mother to two children, Reina, one year and nine months old, and Legend, just four months old. In July, she announced she was pregnant with her third child, posting a photo of her pregnancy test alongside the caption:

“I’m pregnant. I can’t believe it family. I’m expecting my baby number 3.”

Acosta’s last Instagram video, posted just a day before her passing, reflected her confidence and humor, as she mused: “I always thought God had his favorites because there are people who eat and don’t get fat. But looking at me properly, are you telling me, someone who has no extensions and has not gone in for any cosmetic surgery, when I’m looking like this? I’m on that list of favorites, and no one’s going to convince me otherwise.”

Following the heartbreaking news, her fans have expressed their grief online. One person wrote: “May this goddess who never let herself be humiliated by anyone rest in peace.”

Another added: “A mother left us, because more than an influencer, she was a mother. God bless those creatures.”

Acosta’s family has also appealed to fans for help with funeral costs, writing: “On January 3, our dear Carol, better known as Killadamente, passed away. The Acosta Gonzalez family shares its pain with everyone who knew her. At her young age, she managed to help thousands of people through her work, but on this occasion, we unite and ask for your help in making sure she has the farewell she deserves.”

Our thoughts go out to Acosta’s family, friends, and fans at this time.
