Social media users have praised a student posing for prom photos after she got away with sneaking a particular item in.
A British student was described as a 'genius' as she managed to disguise a large item as a stylish clutch bag, in a resurfaced social media post.
Eleanor Clarke was wearing an elegant dress ahead of her group's special night, as she clutched onto what looked to be an oversized bag.
At first glance, even the biggest fashionistas would write it off as a rather large accessory, but this was far from the truth.
It wasn't a clutch at all; the student was actually grasping onto a huge metal hip flask, which blended into her look.
Unfortunately, the move may have given teenagers all over the world an idea that didn't need to be brought to their attention.
Despite the original post being shared in 2017, the student is still being praised to this day, with many unable to tell it's a flask from the original photo.
The disguise was shared on X, with the caption: "Still don't know how I got away with a huge hip flask as my prom clutch."
She also posted a number of other snaps from her night out, showing how she managed to hide it, as one picture showed the student taking a pretend swig from the flask.
The post now has over 227,000 likes, with many appreciating her creativity and outside-the-box thinking.
One user called her a 'genius,' with another joking that she should be the 'first female president'.
A third wrote: "Fact she's so casual holding it like an actual clutch n all oh my god a true intellectual. (sic)."
A different user penned: "This girl is my new hero."
It isn't clear if the student filled her flask up with alcohol, or whether it was being used as a prop in a stunt, though she seems to suggest that she got away with it.
The photos went viral back in 2017, surfacing again years later, as viewers started to notice other aspects of the photo which were also noteworthy.
Many admired Eleanor's unapologetic attempt at bringing her flask to the prom; with many past teens doing everything to hide booze, she's done it in plain sight.
But she wasn't alone in making bold decisions, as one social media user pointed out a questionable outfit choice from one of Eleanor's friends.
They wrote: "We're all talking about the huge hip flask meanwhile Red dress is taking her cat to prom," referencing her furry bag.
Others noticed that the student in the blue dress looked to be holding her iPad in an orange case, choosing to focus on that in the comments.
The internet can be absolutely brutal.

While little good can come out of being arrested, the rise of so-called #MugshotBae has propelled several individuals into the spotlight. Of course, there's the "hot felon", Jeremy Meeks, who landed an international modelling contract after his mugshot started making the rounds on social media, but now a college student has gone viral after people started pointing out just how glamorous her mugshot was.
In February of this year, Marshala Perkins did her makeup ready to go out with her friends. However, before she was able to set off, the college student was approached by two Hunt County police officers at her car. "[One officer] asked me for my handicap sticker because I was in a handicap spot," Marshala told As/Is, clarifying that her mother, whom she often drives around, has a disability. "I gave it to him and he brought it back, said everything was clear."
But instead of leaving matters there, the police officer allegedly said "It smells like weed in here", and told her to exit the vehicle so that she could be searched. The officers found two grams of marijuana, which the self-taught makeup artist had planned to smoke with her friends. "And so I went to jail for it with my beat face," Marshala stated, referring to her gorgeous makeup look.

Five months later, Marshala's mugshot went viral after a Twitter user reposted the image with the caption, "We need a tutorial! Free her!"

"At first I was embarrassed because that’s not really something that you want to be broadcasted," the 19-year-old said in response to all the press attention. "But then when I saw all the support for me with my face beat—because makeup is something that I really wanted to do—I was like 'Okay!' I wasn’t feeling too bad about it.”
Marshala has never previously been arrested prior to the night of February 6th when she was charged with possession of marijuana, held overnight in jail, and ordered to pay $2,000 in court fees during the course of her six-month probation period.
The college freshman has since drawn attention to the fact that many of her fellow black students have had similar experiences. "I mean it was getting to the point where nobody that I was meeting was able to tell me, ‘Oh no, I was never arrested down here for marijuana’ or ‘I’ve never been stopped or searched or anything,'" she told the publication.

According to FBI data published by The Intercept, Texas police officers made more annual marijuana arrests in 2016 than law enforcement officials in any other state. In conjunction to this, a 2013 ACLU study found that while the use of marijuana is largely equal between black and white people, black people are 3.73 times more likely to arrested for possession of the drug nationwide.
"It’s been really hard trying to get a job because of my background now. A lot of people don’t want to hire people with marijuana on their background," Marshala concluded.

In high school, prom's a pretty big deal. Guys and girls go all out, wearing sharp suits and fancy dresses, with colorful corsages and sparkling tiaras. Who says a boy can't be a certified queen? Certainly not Xavier Perkins, who threw out the rulebook by dressing in drag and stealing his school's Prom Queen crown last week.
The British 15-year-old became Lees Brook Community School's first male Prom Queen ever when he donned a short pink strapless dress, matching heels and a long blonde wig to attend the annual event.
The brave Derby teen, who took six hours to prepare for the occasion, admitted there were a few haters at his school - but said he didn't give them a second thought.
Speaking to Derbyshire Live, he said: "It was quite scary at first, but when I walked in everyone said 'you look so good'. One of my teachers was taking photos with people and he didn't know who I was. When he later found out it was me, it was amazing.
"Some lads were saying things about me, but I didn't really care. I really wanted to win Prom Queen to cause a stir because it would be so unexpected."
Xavier designed the dress with a dressmaker and did all his own make-up, hair and nails on the night. The student had only ever dressed in drag in public once before when he performed at a charity event to raise funds for a young boy who had cancer.
His mother Sharnee Parkins has marvelled at the courage it took for him to subvert the norm and says he made his family and friends "so proud".
"I'm totally humbled, I can't imagine where you get the courage at the age of 15 to do that, it is so brave," the 45-year-old said. "His friends were really supportive. A few people weren’t happy for him but that was outweighed by the positive feedback."

The mum-of-four from Chaddesden added that the school put on a big show of support for her son, saying: "Xav was hoping to get the Best Dressed award because it isn’t gender-biased, but he did say he'd love to get Prom Queen.
"It was his peers who voted for him which is an accolade because it takes a lot of courage for them to come out and support it as well... I always say to him, if you’re happy at home you can cope with anything.

"Dressing up is a leisure activity for him. With it being Pride month as well it’s even more poignant, if it can help one person who is struggling with their sexuality. He wants to be a Drag Queen but he's very academic too so he could do anything. He's got a very wise head on his shoulders."

On social media, we're all influenced by the people we follow. We might take inspiration from their fashion sense, flattering poses or sick caption game. And why not? Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. However, when you copy someone too much, imitation is the sincerest form of being a creepy-ass stalker.
In Dundee, Scotland, college student Chloe Cowan discovered that another young woman has been recreating her social media posts for two years. The bizarre lookalike wears a practically identical outfit, reenacts her poses in similar locations, and even copies the captions. We've seen people recreate celebrities' Instagram posts as a joke, and plus-size models recreate celebrity posts to promote body positivity. but recreating a stranger's posts, with meticulous accuracy? Pretty disturbing.
Chloe's sister, Linzi, broke the news on Facebook. Her post was shared 11,000 times and gained national media attention before getting deleted. The doppelgänger's Instagram account, honeybasra18xo, has been deleted as well. However, the screenshots survive, showing just how far the lookalike went.
She copied Chloe's photos posing in a strapless red evening gown, lounging on the rocks in a bikini, and rocking a little black dress, Mickey Mouse ears and a cane - just to name a few examples. (The captions are all plagiarized too.)
On Facebook, Linzi explained that she wanted to warn others about this strange behavior. Apparently, the lookalike created a fake social media account to follow Chloe. Here's what Linzi wrote before she deleted her post, as reported by The Daily Mail:
"Don't even know where to start with this but just want to let people know the dangers of social media. My sister Chloe is at Dundee university and another girl living in Dundee (who my sister wasn't aware of until this week) has been reenacting her life on instagram for almost 2 years.
"This girls stalking behaviour is to the extreme of reenacting videos of a photo album that Chloe posted of my dad who past away (gives me the shivers when I think about it). This girl doesn't follow my sister on social media and had made a fake account to stalk her without her knowing.
"Her behaviour is not ok and I just wanted this out in the open for people to be aware of just how scary social media can be. My sister should not have to hide away in worry of her every move being stalked by another girl! Imitation is flattering but this is just too far!"
No police reports have been filed about the incident, but since the doppelgänger deleted her account and was publicly humiliated, I'm guessing this is the end of it. Now she'll have no choice but to express her own personality. (Or copy someone else and be sneakier about it.)
