An influencer has recounted a terrifying attack when she woke in Bali to find a masked man standing beside her bed.
Mira Dorenbosch and her husband, Jaimy, was travelling around the island for a few weeks and had been staying in a private villa.
It was all going to plan, until suddenly one night, she awoke to a terrifying scene.
Dorenbosch woke up to realise that someone was in the room with them. A man, dressed all in black and wearing a balaclava, was stood beside their bed.
Dorenbosch recalled the ordeal, which took place at around 5am on Sunday morning. At first, Dorenbosch and her husband thought it was a dog.
"Out of reflex, [my husband] kicked the dog," she recalled.
"Seconds later, he realised it was a man."
Dorenbosch recounted: "I woke up in the middle of all this.
"A man dressed completely in black, wearing a balaclava, was standing inside our bedroom right next to our bed when we were sleeping."
How the robber managed to gain access to the couple's private villa is not clear, but he had a very specific request for them, which left them both concerned about their overall safety on the island.
In fact, the robber wanted Dorenbosch's husband Jaimy's Rolex watch, which struck her as odd, considering that he wasn't wearing it in bed and it wasn't even in the room at the time.
"It didn't feel random," Dorenborsch wrote on Instagram as reported by News.com.au.
She is now questioning the security surrounding their private villa, especially who had access to the property and knowledge of the valuable items the couple were travelling with.
The masked robber didn't find the Rolex and ending up fleeing the scene with a Hermes bag belonging to the couple.
After the attack, Dorenbosch filed a police report with the local authorities.
But now, she is offering some sage advice to people looking to also travel around the island province of Bali,
"Please be careful," she urged. "You always think something like this happens to someone else… until you wake up and there’s literally a masked man standing next to your bed."
The couple, who originally hail from Denmark and are now based out of Dubai, own a luxury real estate business that operates out of Marbella, Spain and also rent out private properties.
