Kelis has finally responded to rumors that she's dating Bill Murray
The 72-year-old Ghostbusters actor was rumored to have allegedly struck up an unlikely romance with the 43-year-old singer after being spotted at some of her more recent gigs.
According to The Sun, the whispers about the pair - who have a 30-year age gap - began after the father-of-six was seen watching the 'Bossy' singer perform at the Mighty Hoopla festival in Brockwell Park, South London recently.
And it was a backstage image at this concert that caused fans to go into meltdown.
A source also told The Sun: "They’ve met up in the States before which got people in the industry talking, and now are meeting up in London while they’re both here. They’ve clearly hit it off."
"Whatever it is that has brought them together, and however unlikely it seems, they are both single and are having fun despite the fairly big age gap," the source added.
The duo both also experienced recent bereavements, which is likely one of the reasons why it was easy for news outlets and fans to link the pair romantically.
The 'Trick Me' singer's husband Mike Mora passed away in 2022 after a long battle with stage four stomach cancer at the age of 37. She spoke about her heartbreak and how it has taught her to cherish time and celebrate people.
"It doesn't change the fact that I'm heartbroken. But it does change how I choose to approach it," the mom-of-three expressed, per Revolt. "It reminds you how short time is and how we don't have any control. I want to control what I can control - how I treat the people around me. I'm really big on celebrating people when they're here. I don't feel like it's as useful when they're gone."
Meanwhile, the Groundhog Day star's estranged wife Jennifer Butler also passed away back in 2021. The costume designer filed for divorce from the actor in 2008, but the pair are understood to have remained in touch before her death two years ago.
Though, despite having some things in common, Kelis appears to reveal that her and Murray aren't a new item. In fact, she took to Instagram to shut down the rumors.
The singer had posted a series of images of herself at the beach in Greece, where she was wearing a colorful bikini and jumping into the water.
In the comments section, however, one netizen wrote: "Ma'am would you care to address these Bill Murray allegations?!? Cuz damn! What he doing with all that?!? [...]"
Then, underneath the comment, Kelis replied with: "lol no babe , I wouldn't bother at all."
Now, although one could read Kelis' comment as "no" she doesn't wish to address the allegations, it certainly looks like Murray is not going to be a step-father to Kelis' three children.
The singer's late husband sadly passed away after a six-month battle with stage four stomach cancer in March, 2022, after first being diagnosed a year earlier. At the time, doctors had only given him 18 months to live.
As for Murray, he's currently in the UK filming a sequel to his last Ghostbusters film.

Bill Muray and Kelis have reportedly split up following what was rumored to be a whirlwind summer romance.
Speculation regarding their relationship began circulating after 72-year-old Murray, a father of six, was spotted at several of 44-year-old Kelis' performances.
The initial spark seemed to have ignited when Murray was seen enjoying the 'Bossy' singer's performance at the Mighty Hoopla festival in Brockwell Park, South London, as reported by The Sun.
An image taken backstage during the concert further fueled the rumors.
An inside source confirmed to The Sun: "They’ve met up in the States before which got people in the industry talking, and now are meeting up in London while they’re both here. They’ve clearly hit it off."
The source further highlighted: "Whatever it is that has brought them together, and however unlikely it seems, they are both single and are having fun despite the fairly big age gap."
It would now appear as if the summer fling is over as a source has since confirmed to The Sun that the couple have parted ways.
The source told the outlet: "Kelis and Bill were - and still are - very fond of each other but things just ran their course. They both have busy schedules and after a whirlwind romance decided to go their separate ways. They hope to remain friends but also plan to get on with their lives."
Both Murray and Kelis have recently faced personal losses, which likely contributed to their initial romance.
Kelis lost her husband, Mike Mora, to a battle with stage four stomach cancer in 2022. Speaking about her grief, she shared her perspective on appreciating time and valuing people, stating: "It doesn't change the fact that I'm heartbroken. But it does change how I choose to approach it... I'm really big on celebrating people when they're here. I don't feel like it's as useful when they're gone," per Revolt.
Similarly, Murray's estranged wife, Jennifer Butler, passed away in 2021. Although the couple had filed for divorce in 2008, they reportedly remained in contact until her passing.
Despite these shared experiences, Kelis took to social media to dispel the swirling rumors about her and Murray.
Posting a series of images from her beach vacation in Greece, where she was seen enjoying the sun in a colorful bikini and leaping into the crystal-clear waters, the singer seemed eager to put an end to the speculation - though the rumors remained.

Robert De Niro has revealed that he recently welcomed his seventh child at the age of 79.
The Meet the Parents star shared the news in an interview to promote his new movie, About My Father.
In a discussion with ET Canada about fatherhood, the veteran actor said that he believes "in being loving with [his] kids", though one also has "to be stern about stuff."
He said: "I mean, there’s no way around it with kids. I don’t like to have to lay down the law and stuff like that. But, [sometimes] you just have no choice.
‘And any parent, I think, would say the same thing. You always want to do the right thing by the children and give them the benefit of the doubt but sometimes you can’t."
An ET Canada journalist then mentioned that De Niro had six kids, before the actor promptly corrected him, saying: "Seven actually."
"I just had a baby," he added.
He did not reveal any further details about the latest addition to the family - including who the mother of the child is. However, De Niro's rep confirmed to the outlet that the actor had in fact welcomed another little one.
After his separation from his wife Grace Hightower in 2018, he was most recently pictured with martial arts instructor Tiffany Chen.
They were seen together leaving dinner with Harvey Keitel and Billy Crystal at Giorgio Baldi's private room in Santa Monica in March. At the time, Chen appeared to have a baby bump.
De Niro, who is also a grandfather, told People in January 2020 that parents should always aim to push their kids to strive for what they want in life.
"For my kids, I tell them, 'If you want to be an actor or you want to do this or that, that's fine as long as you're happy. Just don't sell yourself short,' " he said. "That's the most I would say — push yourself a little more and reach for what you really think it is you want to do. Don't be afraid."
The actor added: "It's important for them to find their own lane."
De Niro has two kids - Drena, 51, and Raphael, 46 - with his ex wife Diahnne Abbott and two children with Hightower - Elliot, 25, and Helen, 11. He is a father to twins Aaron and Julian, 27, with former partner Toukie Smith. The name of his youngest child is yet to be revealed.
This is a breaking news story. More to follow...

Elisabeth Moss has announced that she is expecting her first baby!
On Tuesday (January 29), the 41-year-old Emmy Award-winning actress made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! with a full baby bump on show.
As soon as Moss sat down, the 56-year-old host went straight to the point as he asked her: "Are you pregnant or just an incredibly committed method actor?"
"A little bit of both," the Handmaid's Tale star responded while laughing.
Watch Moss reveal her pregnancy below:The Mad Men actress opened up about her pregnancy journey as Kimmel asked her how she has been feeling, saying: "Not bad, actually. I've been really lucky. It's been going really well."
The star went on to ask the chat show host if he had any advice for her in regards to being a new parent, so Kimmel revealed that the best advice his wife Molly McNearney got before welcoming one of their children actually came from comedy legend Bill Murray, 73.
"He said bring Christmas lights to hang up [in the delivery room]," Kimmel said. "Because the lighting is terrible in the room. It's Walmart-style lighting for this blessed event that's going to happen and you don't want that."
He also suggested night lights but not candles like he had done, as they can not be lit in the delivery room due to there being oxygen canisters, which are highly flammable.
Moss was receptive to the suggestion as she replied: "I think that's a really good list, I like that."
As Moss is private about her personal life, she has not disclosed who the father of her baby is as well as her due date.
She has only had two public relationships, with one of them being her marriage to Saturday Night Live! comedian Fred Armisen, 57, in October 2009.
The ex-couple separated eight months later, with the Invisible Man actress officially filing for divorce in September 2010 citing irreconcilable differences. Their divorce was then finalized in May 2011.
In 2012, Moss was romantically involved with Australian cinematographer Adam Arkapaw after meeting on the New Zealand set of the mini-series, Top of the Lake. They dated for three years before eventually splitting in 2015.
The Shining Girls actress revealed to Marie Claire in 2018 that she was initially reluctant about motherhood but became open-minded to the idea as she got older.
"It's not for everybody, and I didn't know if it was going to be for me, but lately, I think it is," she told the publication. "I have no idea how I want to do it though or what the plan is."
Four years later, Moss told Daily Mail that she wants children because she has been "inspired" by her mom, Linda, gushing: "I definitely want to have kids because I've been very inspired by the kind of mother my mom is. She did a beautiful thing with me."
She jokingly added: "And then I’ll give the child to my mum and she can raise it because she'd do it very well!"
Congratulations to Moss!
