Bethenny Frankel has posted, well, a rather 'frank' set of unfiltered images on her Instagram to promote body positivity.
At first glance, the image shows the 51-year-old Real Housewives of New York star posing on the beach in a bikini. Look a little closer, however, and you'll notice something is not quite right - her left arm appears to bend in ways in ways it shouldn't, her skin appears unnaturally smooth, and the waves next on her left side look a little strange too.
Sharing the images to Instagram, she encouraged her 2.7 million followers to swipe through and see how the Skinnygirl CEO's first pic was easily edited.
Frankel captioned her post: "This is NOT what I look like… and you know that bc I'm not vain and show you the real me. But if I posted a version of this every day you might start to believe that it might be. This is just how distorted this has all gotten…"
The disaster relief philanthropist continued: "Filtering is lying: it is deceptive. It makes women feel badly about themselves. It makes young girls insecure and obsessed with an unattainable perfection. It makes middle aged women and mothers feel insecure about themselves. This creates a false ideal for men. It's the opposite of inspirational.
"It's destructive. It's irresponsible. It's insecure and it's inaccurate. There is a line between making an effort to look pretty and an outright falsehood."
It seems her followers agreed with Frankel's sentiments, with one Instagram user writing: "The real picture is SOO much better. More women need to embrace their own beauty and trash those damn filters."
While another added: "Agreed! I'm a confident 50 year old and was feeling badly at times... I unfollowed what didn’t work for me! Our poor kids [angry face emoji] we can only keep talking to them [black heart emoji]."
"Thank you!!! It's never enough, what we are expected to be. Very difficult to escape the filtered expectation. We need to breathe and be healthy and strong [heart-eyes emoji]," another comment read.
While Frankel's candidness has been applauded, her unfiltered commentary is nothing new - especially for fans of the Real Housewives of New York series, which the businesswoman has starred in on-and-off since 2008.
In fact, Frankel's introductory tagline for season eight of the show was: "If you can't handle the truth, you can't handle me." Following this, she eventually became one of the most memeable housewives - known for her sassy (and often rude) comments to the other women like, "Maybe I know it all", "YOU F*** EVERYONE", and calling one of her co-stars a "b***h in heat".
But she hasn't stopped there. In recent years she become somewhat of a beauty product reviewer on TikTok - and has openly criticized Kim Kardashian's skincare line, calling it "not practical," per Page Six.
Well, one thing is definitely for sure - Bethenny Frankel is (in the words of co-star Ramona Singer) "not afraid to say what everyone else is thinking."
