It seems like just yesterday that Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were Hollywood's golden couple - but in reality, it's been three-and-a-half years since the famous pair went their separate ways.

Months after they finalised their divorce in October 2018, Jennifer has reflected on their time together, claiming that fame put pressure on their family.

The 46-year-old actress was asked to weigh in on the topic of adaption for her column in WSJ. Magazine's March Women's Style Issue and came up with some interesting thoughts on how people must learn to adjust to their circumstances.

"How do you adapt your career to your life? That's a big question," Garner wrote. "Becoming someone who is well known requires an enormous adaptation. Who am I now? How do I go through the world? Then there's having children and, in my case, a career that's a very selfish one. The combination of those things is the largest adaptation of all."

She continued: "When I had kids, I started considering how jobs worked for my family. How much am I going to ask of my partner and kids? What's worth it and what isn't? Something Ben and I used to say to each other all the time is, 'We have to adapt.'"

The 13 Going On 30 star went on to discuss the unanticipated consequences of being a celebrity, stating: "There were so many things you wouldn't expect. We'd be left alone more at Disneyland than we would at a park in Santa Monica. But if you love something, you'll do whatever you need to do."

The former couple tied the knot in 2005, but announced they had separated in June 2015 after a decade of marriage. Since splitting, they have remained amicable for their three children, with Jennifer even staging an intervention and driving her former husband to rehab in August 2018.

Both parties have moved onto new relationships since the split; Jennifer is currently dating businessman John Miller and it is said the two "couldn't be happier".

"Jen feels so lucky to have met John and their relationship only continues to grow," a source allegedly told ET earlier this month. "They both wanted to take it slow, but it has gotten serious and they couldn't be happier."

The source added that the new couple were still keen to take things slow, saying: "[Garner and Miller are] in a true honeymoon phase in their relationship and while they've spoken about a future together, neither of them are ready to plan a wedding or get engaged. Jen has no interest in jumping into marriage quickly. She only just solidified her divorce so right now she just loves all their time together."

As for Ben, he dated 22-year-old Playboy model Shauna Sexton last year, but the two were rumoured to have split in October.

It's good to hear both Ben and Jen are doing well and are still friends!
