The internet has no shortage of bizarre theories — but one of the most persistent involves a global pop star, a child beauty queen, and a murder mystery that’s never been solved.

For years, conspiracy theorists have claimed that singer Katy Perry is actually JonBenét Ramsey, the six-year-old pageant star who was tragically murdered in her Colorado home on Christmas night in 1996.

Despite JonBenét’s body being found in her family’s basement the next day, some online believers remain convinced the case was a cover-up — and that JonBenét didn’t die at all.

According to them, she grew up to become none other than the 'Teenage Dream' hitmaker.

A Viral Theory Reignited

The theory surged back into the spotlight recently after a social media user shared an AI-generated video morphing JonBenét’s childhood photo into an image of 40-year-old Katy Perry.

The video was captioned, “Wake up ppl,” and soundtracked by Perry’s 2012 track 'Wide Awake'.

The caption also included the cryptic phrase “iykyk”—short for “if you know, you know.”

The post gained traction fast — and so did the theory.

Katy Perry Responds

As the clip racked up views, Katy Perry herself chimed in.

In a move that split opinion, she dropped a short, cheeky comment: “Wait, am I?”

Her response quickly pulled in more than 5,000 likes. Some fans praised her for playing along, calling it “amazing” and joking that “this is my Roman Empire.” Others declared, “Omg mystery solved,” while one wrote, “The queen hath spoken.”

But not everyone saw the humor. Critics slammed Perry for engaging with a conspiracy linked to a real child’s murder.

“No please don’t joke like this. The little girl was murdered and her family destroyed,” one user replied. Another added: “This is psychotic, Katy. Someone’s child died.” Others called her flippant attitude “disgusting” and "not a good look".

So Where Did This Even Come From?

It all started back in 2014 when a now-deleted YouTube video titled “'JonBenet Ramsey' is singer 'Katy Perry'” made the first major splash with the theory.

The video suggested that JonBenét’s parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, faked their daughter’s death and raised her as Katy Perry.

Theorists often point to a resemblance in facial features between the two — particularly in their eyebrows, nose, and jawlines. The AI video used those similarities to visually and somewhat seamlessly “morph” one face into the other, fueling belief among diehard conspiracy followers.

Another piece of so-called “evidence” came from a June 2011 Vanity Fair interview in which Perry said: “Not that I was one of those stage kids. There was no JonBenét Ramsey inside of me waiting to burst out.”

Most would read that as Perry denying any similarity to the child star. But in the hands of theorists, the quote has been twisted into some kind of coded confession.

Of course, Perry's recent tongue-in-cheek comment (mentioned above) also only added to fan the flames fo the conspiracy among theorists.

The Facts Don't Line Up—At All

But here's a much-needed reality check: Katy Perry was born in 1984. JonBenét Ramsey was born in 1990.

That’s a six-year age gap — meaning if JonBenét were alive today, she’d be 34 years old. Perry, by contrast, is 40.

The facts get even harder to ignore considering that JonBenét’s body was actually found in her home, and the case has remained under active investigation ever since.

The Ongoing Fight for Justice

JonBenét’s father, John Ramsey, recently made headlines again as he urged police to retest all evidence from the 1996 crime scene using modern DNA technology.

“DNA technology has advanced dramatically since the last round of testing was done in the mid-2000s,” he told the Daily Mail, offering to pay for the tests himself. “If it doesn’t work then I’ll praise the police for trying everything they could [...] but, to me, it’s just so obvious where the police’s time needs to be spent.”

DNA evidence—including an unidentified male profile found under JonBenét’s fingernails and in her underwear—has never matched any known suspect. Ramsey believes new genetic genealogy techniques could finally crack the case.

He also shared his hope with NBC News after a meeting with Boulder’s new police chief, saying: “I’m just very impressed with the caliber of the leadership now and that gave me great hope.”

Despite mountains of evidence debunking it, the theory that Katy Perry is JonBenét Ramsey continues to circulate in fringe corners of the internet — largely due to facial comparisons, warped quotes, and a fascination with the idea of secret celebrity identities.

For some, it’s just a meme. For others, it’s a rabbit hole they won’t climb out of. But let's not forget there is a very real tragedy at the heart of it all.

Britney Spears' son has had enough of the ridiculous rumors surrounding his mother, it seems, as he has taken to TikTok to respond.

When it comes to celebrity conspiracies, you could probably spend hours, days, weeks reading all of the slop that circulates online.

But very rarely does an A-lister's child respond to some of the outrageous rumors swirling around their parent.

As for the "clone theory" about Spears, which has no real evidence, the whispers began as she started posting some bizarre dancing videos on her Instagram account.

Some claimed that she looked noticeably different, and that her voice sounded different, while other eagle-eyed fans claimed her dancing style had changed.

Ultimately, many believed that the "real" Spears had somehow been replaced with a clone.

Britney Spears' son responds to "clone" claims

Jayden James Federline took to a TikTok livestream recently, where he answered fans' burning questions, with one standing out in particular.

He was asked if he thought it was "silly" when people spread rumors about him and his family, including the "clone theories."

The 19-year-old answered: "I hop on TikTok and I see this one video that has 1.2 million likes, and the caption is like, ‘The biggest theory ever: Is Britney Spears still alive?’

“Like, bro, you can go to her page and see her right now. Are you guys tweaking?" he asked.

For those unaware, "tweaking" is slang for being delusional, acting weird, or overreacting.

Jayden then explained that the majority of "stuff in the media is exaggerated and fake," before adding: "People know how gullible people are, and they use that to their advantage,

"If it has a lot of likes, they believe it," he claimed.

The teenager claimed that the majority of people don't even do research; they believe what they see online and take it as gospel.

Spears shares sons Jayden and Sean with Kevin Federline, to whom she was married from 2004 to 2007, but following Spears' struggles, full custody of the boys went to their father in 2008.

Britney Spears celebrated reunion with Jayden

Less than two years ago, on Christmas Day, Spears revealed to fans that she hadn't seen her sons in years with a celebratory snap.

She wrote on Instagram: "Best Christmas of my life !!! I haven’t seen my boys in 2 years !!!"

She posted a photo with her son, further penning: "Tears of joy and literally in shock everyday koo koo crazy so in love and blessed !!! I’m speechless thank you Jesus!!!"

The trio seems to have built a strong relationship, as Jayden and Sean continue to progress in their modelling careers.

In fact, the brothers made their debut at Paris Fashion Week this month, walking together for the Vetements Menswear Spring/Summer 2027 show.

Katy Perry has made a glorious return to her signature dark locks that she sported at the start of her pop career in 2008.

And The One That Got Away hitmaker may just have broken the internet after unveiling her not-so-new look!

Taking to Instagram, Perry shared a series of snaps with her 112 million followers, featuring her new 'do.

"Mama has the night off so you get inches and @americanidol on @jimmykimmellive tonight ok," the 36-year-old singer wrote in the caption of the post, uploaded to the platform yesterday.

It should come as no surprise that fans couldn't get enough of the new look, which channelled Perry from the early days of her fame (think: I Kissed A Girl).

One person even exclaimed in the comments: "KATY PERRY HAS JUST BROKEN THE INTERNET."

And the gushing comments certainly didn't stop there.

Another fan wrote: "Yes! Back to black," while a third, "OMG what a goddess queeeeeeennnn [sic]."

A different fan wrote: "YOU LOOK SO GOOD WTF."

And one follower asked the beauty, "WHY ARE YOU SO PERFECT??"

So far, the post has racked up an impressive 2.9 million likes.

The look marks a real departure from her former platinum blonde tresses that she had become known for in recent years.

A few years back, Perry chopped off much of her hair and unveiled a platinum pixie cut.

The pop princess's longtime colorist Rick Henry spoke to PEOPLE about the process behind cutting off her long locks.

"She definitely felt like a strong powerful woman," he told the publication. "It is very scary for a woman to cut off her hair. And once you do, it is liberating. You feel amazing and powerful. It is almost like you've transformed into this sexy woman."

In 2018, Perry told PEOPLE that the drastic change in hair encouraged her to change up her makeup routine.

"The short hair obviously really puts your face at the forefront — there's nothing to hide behind!" she said. "I focus on clean, beautiful skin, and then a statement eye or a statement lip."

Britney Spears fans have long suspected something was "going on" with the star, and the singer has now spoken out to confirm that they were correct.

The 'Toxic' singer, 41, has been embracing her freedom on social media since the end of her 13-year conservatorship, during which she did not maintain much of a social presence.

However, some of her posts have left fans speculating what they could mean, particularly as Britney has often shared videos of her dancing and spinning in her living room, as well as stripping off to be completely nude.

Britney took to Instagram on Wednesday to confirm that something was going on at the time - and to explain exactly what that was.

She shared a clip from the 1991 Disney film Beauty and the Beast as she acknowledged that fans had noticed something was afoot with her, as she opened up about her life.

Britney wrote: "I started writing my book two years ago and in those moments in my personal life, I kept to myself !!! Not only was my personal life kept secret, but it felt equivalent to 20 years of hard times that I wrote about in my book !!!

"Can you imagine a 2007 that lasted for three years that nobody even knows about ??? It’s over now and I’m incredibly sad about those times !!! It’s weird cause although I do instagram, I don’t follow social media, the news, and the fan chatter !!!"

The 2007 in question was the year that Britney had a public breakdown, during which she shaved her head in front of the paparazzi, and which led to her conservatorship being implemented the following year, putting her father - Jamie Spears - in control of her personal and financial decisions.

She added: "I’ve been doing that this week and it’s weird cause it feels like a lot of fans already kind of know me and they way they speak is incredibly kind. They always a suspicion that something’s going on !!!!

"Well guess what Britney nerds … you were 100 percent right !!! I don’t have time to speak about any of it cause at this particular moment it’s beyond comprehension !!! Here’s a clip of my favorite movie !!!! Looks are deceiving !!!"

Addressing how she felt over the past few years, she admitted: "I’ve been turned down by so many and incredibly hurt by many. In a world where looks have always been important … where vanity lies … it’s the secret to steal a man’s heart !!!! The seductress poison is an allusion !! It’s always been !!!

"But in the wickedness of that illusion is where we play !!! May I play now ??? I found my poison daddy !!!"

Towards the end of Britney's conservatorship, the #FreeBritney movement was created by fans who grew increasingly concerned about how they believed she was being treated under the rule.

The singer has since come out to allege that the arrangement was abusive and claimed her father had mistreated her while it was in place.

Since the rule was lifted, Britney has had a fractured relationship with her family, though she appears to remain close to her brother, Bryan Spears.

She also shared a photo of him in PPE on her Instagram page earlier in the week, calling him "like a dad and my best friend".

Britney's fans had also spoken out after she previously shared videos of her dancing with knives which sparked concerns, however, the pop star maintained that they were fake knives as she wanted to emulate a performance by Shakira.

Katy Perry appeared to have an issue with her eye at a recent concert - and it's led to a slew of bizarre conspiracy theories.

The 'Roar' singer, 38, was seen in footage at her Las Vegas residency apparently experiencing an eye glitch while on stage. The video has since racked up more than 19 million views since it was posted to TikTok on Sunday.

In the viral clip, Perry appeared to stare directly at the crowd as she experienced difficulties opening her right eye.

The mom of one – who donned a sparkly dress with two faux soda cans on her chest – tried to lift her eyelid back into place using her hand. However, her eye proceeded to close again, prompting Perry to try once more. When her eye was finally back to normal, the 'I Kissed A Girl' hitmaker carried on with her show, telling the audience: "Make even more noise for my band."

The clip was the subject of much speculation from viewers, some of whom claimed the glitch was some kind of mechanical failure, implying that the Grammy-winning megastar was actually a robot.

One person wrote: "The robot had a glitch."

Another added: "she lost the wifi connection 😂."

A third chimed in: "Mechanical failure 😂she even press that button to keep it open 😂."

A forth commented: "Clone failure. Next time [make] sure all software are updated and make necessary patches 😂😂😂."

A fifth person said: "The cyborg is shuttin down lol."

Others suggested that video gave credence to the conspiracy theory that the Covid vaccine causes eye issues.

One wrote on Twitter: "She got that Pfizer eye."

Another quipped: "Isn’t Katy Perry the one who sings that new hot song called 'Eye of the Pfizer'?"

Other theories were a little less out there, with some suggesting that the eye issue had something to do with Perry's makeup.

One wrote: "Lol it’s her eyelash glue getting stuck to her bottom lid happens to me all the time."

A second said: "That be the glue on the eye lashes my eyes always do that don’t let me sneeze 🤣."
