One of the cast members of Australia's Married At First Sight reality series has divided the internet after taking to her socials to invite 18-year-old Robert Irwin out for a drink.

Domenica Calarco, who was one of the wives in the most recent series of Married at First Sight Australia, took to TikTok to post a video of her holding a beverage as she says to the camera: "Hey Robert, I got a beer. Why don't you come and meet me for a drink?" The reality star then blows a kiss.

She captioned the post: "Come meet me for a beer @Robert Irwin."

She also left a gushing comment about how "handsome" she finds the teen - who is the son of the late conservationist Steve Irwin - as she went on to ask him to come to the Logies with her.

Needless to say, Calarco caught a lot of flak for her video and her subsequent comments, with many arguing it is a double standard for a woman of nearly 30 to ask an 18-year-old man out for what was seemingly meant to be a date.

One person wrote: "I just think the comment section would have a different tone if it was a 30 year old man asking a freshly 18 girl for a drink and calling her gorgeous."

Another said: "If this was a man to a girl who just turned 18 ya’ll would be seeing red."

However, there were also plenty of people who went out of their way to defend Calarco, with one writing: "I’m 37 and when my daughter showed me a pic of Robert, I said he looked handsome too… it doesn’t make me a creep people need to chill."

Another penned: "She's just invited him for a drink... Flippin heck. Everyone getting so stressed in the comments for what."

A third wrote: "Having a beer with someone does NOT mean they have any sexual desires with that person. I'd love to drink a cold one with ole mate Rob."

Responding to the backlash she received, Calarco simply wrote: "Chill out he's of legal age. Wow."
