Miley Cyrus and Sarah Jessica Parker have shown their support for Britney Spears over a "disturbing" new documentary about her conservatorship.
Framing Britney Spears details the singer's rise to fame and notorious 2007 downfall which led to her father Jamie becoming her conservator in 2008.
Now, the singer is attempting to take back control from her father, whose current position prevents her from controlling certain aspects of her life like her finances.
The Daily Mail reports that the documentary aired on Hulu on February 5 before being televised on FX that same evening and it was directed by Samantha Stark and produced by the New York Times.
The documentary begins with protests and social media posts from the #FreeBritney movement.
An in-person protest is accompanied by the slogan: "What do we want? Free Britney! When do we want it? Now!"
Following the airing of the documentary, Miley showed her support for the singer by shouting, "We love Britney!" during her pre-Super Bowl performance on Sunday (February 7).
Singer-songwriter Hayley Williams, the frontwoman of Paramore, also tweeted about the documentary.
"The Framing Britney Spears doc holy f***," she wrote. "No artist today would have to endure the literal torture that media/society/utter misogynists inflicted upon her.
"The mental health awareness conversation, culturally, could never be where it is without the awful price she has paid."
Per Sky News, in response to an Instagram post about the documentary, Khloé Kardashian said: "I am praying for queen Britney! So so so sad."
Meanwhile, Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker both tweeted the hashtag #FREEBRITNEY.
As per Sky News, during a November hearing Britney's lawyer said that she fears her father will not resume her singing career while he has power over her estate.
The judge declined to remove Mr. Spears' position as conservator but said that he would consider future petitions for his suspension or removal.
Mr Spears' lawyer Vivian Lee Thoreen said that he had a perfect record as Britney's conservator and that he has done a good job of looking after her estate and acting in her best interests.
