Millie Bobby Brown tearfully urges people to be 'more respectful' after distressing fan encounter

Millie Bobby Brown has taken to social media to urges people to show more respect following a distressing encounter with a fan.

The 16-year-old Strangers Things star shared an emotional video to her Instagram Stories after revealing that a female fan insisted on recording a video of the actress, despite Brown asking her not to.

Sharing the plea with her 39.7 million followers, the actress revealed how she was shopping with her mother when she was approached by the fan.

The Enola Holmes star explained: "[The fan] said, 'Can I take a video of you?' I said, 'Um, no.' But why would anyone want to be taken a video of? Of me? It’s not like of the both of us."

However, the stranger ignored the actress' request, as Brown recalls: "I was paying and she walked past me and began to video me again – and I said, 'I’m a human being, like, what more can I ask from you?'"

In the clip, Brown then becomes emotional and starts to wipe tears from her eyes, as she continues: "She said, 'So I can’t take a video of a human being?' And I said, 'No, not when I said no.'"

Brown then adds: "It just makes me upset when people try to push the boundary, and I just wish people were more respectful.

"I don’t need to justify it to anyone. If I don’t want to be taken a video of, I don’t have to be."

The actress then commented on her fame and asked: "I'm still trying to navigate this all and it's still overwhelming... Where are my rights to say no?"

The beloved teen star then urged people to "show more respect for others, no matter who they are, what they do."

After catching wind of the star's upsetting encounter, the official Stranger Things writing team Twitter account shared a post, reading: "Be kind to others. Find compassion. Wear a mask. All those things cost zero dollars and take zero energy."
