Kenyan lifestyle influencer Gracious Teiyan has died at the age of 26 after being hospitalized with a common condition.
The young content creator grew up in Ngong, studied at Mount Kenya University, and lived in Nairobi.
Known for her lifestyle content, Teiyan had over 329,000 followers on TikTok and a large audience on Facebook.
Gracious Teiyan's cause of death
Teiyan was taken to the hospital on September 14 after suffering from severe migraines. Sadly, she died just two days later. Kenyan outlet Tuko first reported her death.
According to her fiancé, Paul Simat, the cause of her death was sinus thrombosis, a rare condition where blood clots form in the brain.
Fiancé shares emotional tribute
Simat shared several posts mourning Teiyan’s death, including a video on TikTok where he said he had “prayed and pleaded with God” to bring her back.
"But He chose to take you home instead,” Simat went on. “My heart aches, and I may never understand why — but I choose to trust Him, for His ways are higher than mine. You will forever remain in my heart until we meet again.”
In another post, he reflected on how they were just days away from celebrating his graduation together.
“I thought forever meant we would walk through life together, no matter what. I believed in us in a way I’ve never believed in anything else,” he wrote in the caption.
“In just two days, we were meant to stand side by side and celebrate the success of my graduation — a milestone I longed to share with you. But now forever feels like an endless stretch without you in it, and I can’t help but wonder if I’ll spend the rest of my life missing the only person who ever truly felt like home.”
He also posted a video opening his University of Nairobi diploma and dedicating the moment to her.
Fans react to sudden loss
The news triggered an outpouring of grief on Teiyan’s social media pages. In the comments of her final TikTok videos, followers expressed shock and sorrow.
“I can’t believe the nicest soul I ever knew is gone,” one person wrote. Another said, “This is shocking… rest in peace.”
Several others said they didn’t know her personally but felt broken by the news. “A life so young, gone too soon,” one comment read.
Her death adds to a growing list of digital creators whose lives were cut short, leaving followers to mourn not just a personality, but someone they felt they knew.
