Johnny Depp has publicly expressed his deep appreciation for French fashion house Dior, stating that the brand has stood steadfastly by his side throughout his tumultuous legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor has faced a myriad of legal challenges over the last few years. Depp’s legal troubles escalated when he divorced Heard in 2017 and subsequently filed a defamation lawsuit against her in 2019. The trial stemmed from defamatory comments Heard had made about Depp in an op-ed she penned for The Washington Post in 2018 that had falsely painted him as an abusive partner.

Despite the jury awarding Depp $15 million in damages, the legal troubles also coincided with the star being ousted from blockbuster franchises such as Warner Bros.' Fantastic Beasts and Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean.

Nevertheless, Dior continued to work with Depp, and earlier this month, the actor made headlines by signing a reported $20 million contract with the fashion house.

In a recently launched commercial, which can be seen above, Depp is seen narrating a 25-second montage that features visuals of an eagle, a sandy beach, and Depp's own artistic flair as he strums his guitar.

With a moody blue backdrop framing the shot, Depp’s voice can be heard saying: "An eagle cried as it circles its prey. The blazing sun high in the ozone-blue sky, the trail of cold wind stirs around the dry wood and stone. This is the call of Sauvage, eau de toilette."

With gratitude, Depp has now spoken candidly about the support he received from Dior during these turbulent times. "Nobody does that, and the fact that Dior has, I thank every single person involved in making the decision to trust me and stick with me all the way from the bottom to the top and back down," Depp told the South China Morning Post via Insider. "I will forever be in their debt, I will forever be loyal," he continued.

"They stuck with me through every single second, and that ups the stakes quite a lot for me: they trusted me, they believed in me, and they continued," Depp added.

Depp has been a face of Dior since 2015. He has featured in numerous ad campaigns for Dior’s highly successful fragrance line, Sauvage. And the multi-year, seven-figure contract he has signed is certainly an amplification of Dior's trust and commitment toward the actor.

Representatives for Johnny Depp and Dior did not respond to media inquiries from Insider for further comment.

In the meantime, it looks like the actor has been enjoying a relatively quiet life - playing with his band and enjoying living in the English countryside.
