Super Bowl weekend is once again upon us, and just like that, another NFL season has passed by in the blink of an eye.
These days, it's impossible to imagine Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen being with anyone else apart from each other, but it turns out that way back in the day the supermodel dated Leonardo DiCaprio for no less than five years - between 2000 and 2005.
As you doubtless already know, Gisele has had a wildly successful modelling career (anyone who is identifiable by their first name only has clearly achieved a certain level of greatness in their chosen field), and indeed Gisele was the world's top-earning model for a remarkable 15 years straight.
While her relationship with Tom Brady is put up as the epitome of hashtag relationship goals, Gisele was once in a relationship with one of Hollywood's most instantly recognisable leading men, Leonardo DiCaprio.
In a new interview with PORTER Magazine, Gisele discussed her relationship with the Hollywood star, with whom, PORTER writes, she was very in love with at the time. The supermodel recalls the moment she realised that she and DiCaprio were no longer right together;
“No longer numbing myself with smoking, drinking and too much work, I was becoming more and more aware of things that I’d chosen not to look at.
“Was I alone in wanting to do some serious soul-searching while he stayed the same? In the end, unfortunately, the answer was yes.”
She also spoke about her childhood in the interview;
“I come from a family of six strong, beautiful women," she revealed;
“The way I grew up, we always supported each other, we helped each other, we loved each other. But when I left home, that’s not what I felt with the other models. I did not understand why anyone would not want the best for me, when I wanted the best for everybody.”
This, she says, has changed;
“This [#MeToo] movement has united women. It’s a beautiful thing. We are stronger when we are together”.
Of course, Gisele Bündchen is now married to Tom Brady - the pair tied the knot in 2009 - and on Sunday, Brady will go head to head with the Los Angeles Rams in search of a remarkable sixth Super Bowl ring.
Most analysts are forecasting a Patriots victory on Sunday, which would surely see Brady become the greatest NFL quarterback of all time in the eyes of many.
