Basketball fans were convinced Taylor Swift "knew the script" after a video showed her celebrating while the New York Knicks were still trailing behind in Game 4 of the NBA Finals.
The 36-year-old singer was among a host of celebrities packed into Madison Square Garden on Wednesday (June 10) as the Knicks faced the San Antonio Spurs.
At one stage, there seemed to be very little for Knicks fans to be excited about as the Spurs dominated the opening half and took a 76-49 lead into the break.
Spurs' advantage later stretched to 29 points, putting the Knicks on the brink of defeat.
But surprisingly, the Knicks managed to pull off a record-breaking comeback by scoring 26 points in the third quarter before scoring another 32 points in the final period, leading to a dramatic 107-106 victory.
The win means that the Knicks lead the series 3-1 and are just one victory away from their first NBA championship since 1973.
Before the comeback was complete, a clip of the 36-year-old 'Karma' singer enjoying herself courtside began making the rounds on X.
The footage shows Swift performing a brief dance alongside Alana and Este Haim before taking her seat.
The moment quickly sparked jokes from fans convinced the Grammy-winning star somehow knew what was about to happen.
"Most obvious script I've ever seen," one user wrote. Another quipped: "You gotta give credit where credit is due... she believed when no one else did. She knew the script."
But not everyone agreed with the conspiracy theories. "She has a winner mentality. Yall not familiar apparently," a third person argued.
A fourth fan added: "That was wild! I want Taylor at every Knicks game going forward."
Swift was joined by actress Mariska Hargitay and longtime friends Alana and Este from the band Haim.
The 'Love Story' singer and Hargitay both donned blue shirts emblazoned with the phrase "Stevie Knicks" in orange lettering. Meanwhile, Alana sported a shirt reading "Knickelback," while Este wore one featuring the phrase "Knicole Kidman."
Other celebrities in attendance included Timothee Chalamet, Kylie Jenner, Ben Stiller, Spike Lee, Adam Sandler, and Michael J. Fox.
Swift's appearance generated headlines for more than just her courtside celebration.
During an off-air conversation, members of the Knicks radio team were discussing whether the singer had arrived at the arena.
After broadcasters attempted to confirm the sighting, someone asked: "Is that Taylor Swift down there?"
Once it was confirmed that she was in attendance, Knicks radio analyst Monica McNutt appeared unimpressed. "She's not a Knicks fan, get out of here, girl," she said.
The comment quickly spread across social media and sparked backlash from Swift's fanbase.
"Being on air or not, you're still working, this is your job. inform yourself first or just shut up. the level of unprofessionalism is insane, studying to make this your job, and being known for one night only for a mean comment is pretty embarrassing," one fan wrote.
Another added: "Casual misogyny from other women in the big 2026. I thought it was understood women can like sports by now…"
A third fan noted that Swift's support for the Knicks is nothing new, as she's attended several games at Madison Square Garden over the years.

A radio analyst has sparked backlash after making a savage five-word comment about Taylor Swift during Game 4 of the NBA Finals.
The 36-year-old musician was among the celebrities in attendance for Wednesday (June 10) night's game in New York City, where the New York Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs in a record-breaking comeback.
But while fans inside Madison Square Garden were excited to spot the pop superstar courtside, one comment from the broadcast team quickly grabbed attention online.
During an off-air conversation, members of the Knicks radio crew were discussing whether the 'Cruel Summer' musician had arrived at the game.
As colleagues, including Tyler Murray, tried to confirm the sighting, someone asked: "Is that Taylor Swift down there?"
Once it was confirmed that Swift was indeed in attendance, the host of the New York Knicks, Monica McNutt, appeared unimpressed.
"She's not a Knicks fan, get out of here, girl," she said.
The comment quickly circulated on X, where Swift's loyal fanbase, known as Swifties, accused the analyst of taking an unnecessary swipe at the singer.
"Being on air or not, you're still working, this is your job. inform yourself first or just shut up. the level of unprofessionalism is insane, studying to make this your job, and being known for one night only for a mean comment is pretty embarrassing," one fan criticized.
Another said: "Casual misogyny from other women in the big 2026. I thought it was understood women can like sports by now…"
A third defended: "This isn’t the first time taylor’s been to a knicks game nor is it the first time she’s a showed support to them. What was the point of being rude? surely as a female analyst monica mcnutt should be excited about the amount of female fans this will bring attention to the game?"
Even Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy weighed in on the controversy: "Damn. Hate to see @McNuttMonica hating on Taylor Swift. Lots of new faces in the crowd. Don't see her singling them out. Knicks are falling apart at the seams."
The Grammy-winning star's appearance at the game was notable for more than just the viral exchange.
Swift was sitting courtside alongside actress Mariska Hargitay, best known for playing Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
The pair coordinated their outfits, both wearing blue shirts featuring the phrase "Stevie Knicks" in orange lettering.
They were joined by Alana Haim and Este Haim, who also wore Knicks-inspired shirts. Alana's top read "Knickelback," while Este's featured the phrase "Knicole Kidman."
Also spotted at the game were Timothee Chalamet, Kylie Jenner, Ben Stiller, Spike Lee, Adam Sandler, Michael J. Fox, Julianne Moore, Tracy Morgan, and Nas.
Swift's fiancé, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, was not in attendance as he continues participating in the team's mandatory minicamp.

There was an awkward moment between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce on Monday night (May 25), according to social media users.
The couple were sitting in the front row at Madison Square Garden to watch the New York Knicks take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 4 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals.
Emerging as 130-93 victors and 4-0 winners in the series, the Knicks had superstar fans like Timothee Chalamet jumping around at the final buzzer as the NBA team secured their first Finals appearance since 1999.
It was a momentous occasion for all but a few in the building, including Cavs fan Kelce, who also wasn't given an easy ride on social media after a certain interaction with fiancée and popstar Taylor Swift.
The camera unsurprisingly panned over to the superstar couple numerous times during the game, even capturing a big-screen kiss between the two on the Jumbotron.
While Kelce hyped the arena up by chugging a beer, showing off his Cavs t-shirt to the New York crowd, and even jokingly falling asleep mid-game, another moment stole the headlines.
Swift may have looked a bit embarrassed by Kelce's antics, but she was involved in their most viral moment of the night.
The multi-Grammy award-winning artist was seen reaching into her handbag to reach for something to give to her fiancé.
Kelce wasn't animated at all, as the NFL star took the item from her Swift, with many users assuming that she had passed him her credit card, for some reason.
Fans thought that this alleged power move was fitting, given their gulf in net worth and Kelce's need for more beer.
One fan commented on the video: “Rich people doing stuff,” with another adding: “I thought she passed her credit card to him!”
A third jokingly suggested: “Passing the credit card … “Honey, why don’t you go buy yourself something shiny. Mama's got a game to watch.”
However, a closer look suggests that this is wide of the mark, because while Swift may be worth a lot more, Kelce still earns an average of $18m per year over the course of his contract until 2028.
No, in a situation which many of us can relate to, Kelce was seemingly asking his partner for some gum, likely to combat the beer breath he had built up over the night.
Some other fans noticed this, as one commented: “This chewing gum she gave him was to fix his bad breath.”
Another agreed: “Gum for beer breath.”
A third observed the nature of the exchange, writing: “They look like a married couple already, her passing him some gum, it looks like no questions.”

Lip readers have shared what they believe Taylor Swift said when the NFL cameras panned to her - once again - during a recent game.
Ever since the 34-year-old started being linked with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, she's been popping up in the crowd at his games, much to the delight of some Swifties.
However, not everyone's been a fan of Swift's appearances, with many stating that it's taking away from the game.
"I really don't want to see Taylor Swift during the game tomorrow. I do not care that your kid will now ask you questions about football because they show her," one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter) prior to the game.
"Dear @NFL Media: Can U Please Stop Forcing Taylor Swift On Football Fans! We Get It She’s At The Game & She’s A Phenomenal Artist! But Damn If We Want To See Her This Much We’ll Go To Her Concert!! Y’all Show Her More Than Y’all Show The Owner Of The Chiefs! We Love Her But DAMN!" another added.
"This game is so rigged lol. I'm not even a fan of either team. But man this is an embarrassment for the NFL. Can't believe we will always remember the 2023 season as the Year Taylor Swift Ruined Football," a third irritated user commented.
While initially, it seemed as though the 'Love Story' singer was fine with the attention, she's now seemingly done with the cameras while she's out trying to support her boyfriend.
At yesterday's AFC championship game (January 28), which saw the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens go head-to-head at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Swift didn't look too pleased when she appeared on the big screen. Check out the moment below:
In fact, in a clip from the game, the 'Bad Blood' singer can be seeing saying something as she looks up at the screen - with social media users believing that she said the words: "Go away, please".
Upon seeing the clip, fans took to social media once again, to express their opinions on the alleged move.
"You know what, she’s got my respect. I know she’s never been at fault for the constant coverage of her at these she games as it’s been nauseating to no end," wrote one user. Really wish the networks would stop this as they only need to show her and other celebrities once.
"She’s there as a fan and spectator, nothing more and less. Media coverage of her at these games has not helped as it’s unintentionally made her an enemy among passionate sports fans," they added.
Others also suggested that even she was aware that the media were "overdoing it."
As the discussion continued online, some also suggested that she was actually not focused on the camera and instead saw a Grammy banner and said: "Oh, the Grammys!"
The Chiefs won the AFC Championship Game 17-10 against the Ravens and Swift ran down to the field to hug and kiss her boyfriend in an adorable moment between the two.

It looks like Taylor Swift has had enough.
After months of receiving backlash from football fans online and in person, the 34-year-old has seemingly hit back following an interaction with fans who were waiting for her after the recent AFC championship game.
The event, which saw the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens go head-to-head at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, became more than just a night of celebrating some good football action. as Swift once again became a hot topic throughout.
Not only did the CBS broadcast pan to her to capture her reaction - a now common feature of any NFL game she attends - but after the Chiefs had clinched a 17-10 victory over the Ravens, she headed down to the field to congratulate her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
The two shared some adorable moments together - as you can see below - and while some people loved it, others did not.
In a clip that recently went viral on X (formerly known as X), a handful of fans could be seen gathered at the venue as Swift walked past, and amongst the crowd, there were a few people who clearly weren't happy that the 'Love Story' singer kept popping up at games.
"You're ruining football," one person kept repeating over and over again. "You're running the NFL," they said again, to which it seemed as though Swift responded back saying: "I didn't do anything."
Have a look at the clip below:However, others believed the star was actually responding back to another fan who claimed that the victory was down to her stating: "You did that s***!"
Either way, the fact that she was getting heckled did not sit well with people, with many taking to X to express their thoughts on the matter.
"People are crazy! I love football. I love Travis Kelce. Wasn’t a fan of Taylor’s before- she’s simply coming to support her boyfriend. Good for her. She isn't ruining anything lol," wrote one user.
"Baltimore has the worst fan base in the NFL. I've been to many different stadiums and the most ignorant of them all are the Baltimore Raven fans, win or lose. They have no class, they just can't leave it on the field after the game. That's a shame!" added another irritated fan.
"The fact that it was a woman saying that...? Truly embarrassing and I hope she has a swiftie daughter," a third stated.
Others also praised Swift for being in her 'IDGAF [I don't give a f***] era'.
The NFL spotlight on Swift has been a hot topic ever since she first started attending Chiefs games back in September 2023. At one point, the NFL was even accused of "overdoing" the Swift content by both Kelce brothers.
In a previous episode of their 'New Heights' podcast, Kelce's brother Jason questioned whether the Chiefs' tight end thought that football league was "overdoing it" with the coverage of Swift during games.
"I think everybody is just, like, overwhelmed," he replied.
"Take away your feelings for Taylor," Jason said. "What is your honest opinion on how the NFL is treating celebrities at the games?"
"I think it brings a little more to the atmosphere, it brings a little bit more to what you’re watching. But at the same time, I think..."
Before his younger brother could continue, the Philadelphia Eagles player chimed in stating blankly: "They’re overdoing it."
"They’re overdoing it a little bit, for sure," his brother agreed. "Especially my situation. I think they’re just trying to have fun with it."
Either way, as long as this iconic couple are together, prepare for more Swelce content.

It looks like Travis Kelce might be switching out his football for a basketball in the near future as the NFL star had the perfect response to a comment Mark Cuban made about Taylor Swift - and let's just say, we're loving his confidence.
The 65-year-old appeared on a recent episode of ESPN’s show, First Take, where he made a joke about the 33-year-old Grammy-award-winning singer and how she should be dating a player from the basketball team, the Dallas Mavericks.
"Taylor, sorry if you’re listening Travis, break up with him," Cuban said on the episode on Thursday. "I got a bunch of good-looking single guys that play for the Dallas Mavericks. I gotchu."
Kelce saw the comment and immediately took to social media to respond.
"@mcuban Just sign me to a ten day [contract]!” Kelce stated in a tweet on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In the NBA, a ten-day contract is considered a temporary deal designed to help a team for a short period of time so it seems as though there will be one more extra player on the Mavericks' team this season.
Fans couldn't help but applaud the star for his witty response.
"We love you mr chaos," wrote one user, while another added: Welcome to the Mavs Travis!"
A third even branded the tweet as a "Legendary response."
And just to deepen the rumor, the official account for the Mavericks also responded to Kelce writing: "We do need a center," with an eyes-emoji next to it.
So will we be seeing the tight-end take to the basketball court? We'll just have to wait to see how this one plays out.
The news comes just shortly after the 33-year-old NFL star gave us the tea surrounding his brewing romance with Swift.
"I just thought it was awesome that everybody in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her," he recalled on (September 27), on an episode of his 'New Heights' podcast alongside his brother Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles. "The friends and family. She looked amazing... and on top of that, the day went perfect for Chiefs fans. We script it all, ladies and gentlemen.
"It was absolutely electric," he added.
Following their release of the episode on Wednesday, Jason, opened up about further details about his brother’s new relationship.
"I wish I could tell you," he told the hosts during an appearance on SportsRadio 94 WIP. "I have gotten no inclination from Travis... I would say with this one, it definitely seems like he is going above and beyond to be a gentleman.
"I think that he can probably handle both of those gears when necessary," he concluded.
Let's hope he can because it seems as though he's in for one hell of a ride.
