Britney Spears has taken to social media to praise Pamela Anderson's sons for standing by their mom amid the release of the former Baywatch star's Netflix documentary.
Anderson, 55, has been the subject of numerous headlines lately following the release of Pamela, A Love Story - the documentary centered on her life and career as an actress, model, activist, and mother.
Since its release on January 31, many people have praised the Canadian-American personality for the raw and unflinching glimpse into her life - especially as she touches upon being objectified and sl*t-shamed by the media following the leak of her personal tape with then-husband Tommy Lee.
Viewers of the two-hour doc have taken to social media to commend Anderson. One person took to Twitter to post a video of one of her sons praising his mother for her strength and bravery at the documentary's premiere, writing: "Britney's sons could stand to learn a thing or two from Pamela Anderson's sons."
In the video, Anderson's son Brandon Lee, 26, was seen standing next to his mother at the premiere, telling reporters: "You know, I've never met a woman as brave as my mother.
"I think a lot of sons would say that but I truly mean that [...] She's been a bulldog protecting me and my brother my whole life."
Evidently, 41-year-old Spears must have seen the short clip, as she took to Instagram in a now-deleted post to comment on Anderson's recent documentary. Adding in a caption underneath a black and white image of children playing with chalk on a sidewalk, the mom-of-two wrote: "I'm such a fan of Pamela Anderson. She was the only sex icon at one time in America and she still is!!!"
"I really respect the fact that her children stood up for her relating to the fact that people were trying to sell her story from the past!!! They said 'why the hell bring up things that happened 20 years ago if that really messed up my mom???' Referring to the embarrassing subject being sold in a comedic TV comparison ... he's right!!! He went on to say because of the embarrassment she went through a very dark period in her life..." she added, referring to recent Hulu series Pam & Tommy starring Lily James and Sebastian Stan.
"I mean when I read THAT, I was like DAMN!!! With 4 documentaries released about me last year with people I adore speaking about my past!!! THAT alone was almost as hard as what I went through in my past," Britney continued.
She then briefly mentioned how her father, Jamie, and brother, Bryan, had taken advantage of her during her conservatorship, concluding her post by writing: "So Pamela gave me an understanding that people should support you exactly where you are in that moment of your life..."
Britney's now-deleted post comes after the 'Baby, One More Time' singer spoke out about her son's comments about her sharing nude photos on social media.
Since the start of her career, Anderson was portrayed as a sex symbol and bombshell, often not given serious acting parts due to the way she looked. During the documentary, Anderson's other son Dylan, 25, described how he believed the Pam & Tommy Hulu series was done in poor taste.
"Why bring something up from 20 years ago that you know f***ed someone up? The worst part of her life and making a semi-comedy out of it didn't make sense," he stated.
Lily James, who portrayed Anderson in the series, reportedly wrote a letter to the former Playboy model prior to the series being released. In an interview with Net-A-Porter, James stated: "I was very hopeful that we would be in touch right up until we started filming ... My sole intention was to take care of the story and to play Pamela authentically."
Anderson then told The New York Times in January that she'd never read the letter, stating: "It was already hurtful enough the first time. It's like one of those things where you're going, 'Really? People are still capitalizing off that thing?'"
