Jason Alexander, the former husband of Britney Spears, was reportedly 'armed with a knife' when he crashed her wedding to Sam Asghari this week, court documents have stated.
On Thursday, the 40-year-old 'Toxic' singer married her 28-year-old fiancé at her home in Thousand Oaks, California, after five years of dating.
It was a true fairytale wedding, with only her former flame putting a dampener on the affair.
Police were called to the private Los Angeles ceremony when Alexander, who Spears was famously married to for a mere 55 hours in 2004, live streamed himself storming into the venue.
Ventura Sheriff's Department Sergeant Cyrus Zadeh told ET on Thursday: “After 2 PM PT today, we received a call of a trespassing in progress. Deputies responded to Britney Spears’ residence where the call for service was.
"When they arrived they made contact with Jason Alexander who was being detained by security, and it was determined that he had an outstanding out of county warrant for his arrest and was placed under arrest for that.”
In court documents obtained by ET, Mathew Rosengart, a lawyer for the singer, filed a restraining order against Alexander on behalf of Spears and Asghari, saying Alexander “ran on property into house while armed with a knife.”
The documents also state that Alexander “has continually trespassed on her property” and that he was “advised multiple times” that he was “not welcome.”
The restraining order was granted to the newlyweds on Thursday and it will continue to be in effect until June 17.
As per the restraining order, Alexander must stay at least 100 yards away from Spears and Asghari and at least 100 yards away from their home.
In a statement to ET, Rosengart says Alexander, who is set to make an appearance in court on Tuesday afternoon, remains in custody.
He went on to say that he is grateful to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office “for their prompt and good work and look forward to working with law enforcement to ensure Alexander is aggressively prosecuted and hopefully convicted, as he should be. This was an outrageous security breach, which I am livid about, but fortunately Britney is safe and she was a stunning and happy bride.”
Spears and Asghari first met in 2016 on the set of the hitmaker's 'Slumber Party' music video. They got engaged on September 12, 2021, with Spears announcing the news to her 41.3 million Instagram followers at the time.
