Chelsea Handler didn't take long taking a swipe at ex-boyfriend Jo Koy during her opening monologue a the 2024 Critics Choice Awards.

Koy, 52, quickly got viewers talking on social media after he took to the stage as the host of the 81st Golden Globe Awards earlier this month. However, rather than praising the comedian's impeccable comedic timing and hilarious jokes, Koy was branded the "worst host ever" after delivering flop after flop.

After Koy repeatedly failed to draw laughter from the audience, he went on the defensive, at one point telling the stars in attendance: "Some [jokes] I wrote, some other people wrote. Yes, I got the gig 10 days ago! You want a perfect monologue?"

And after his jokes about 2023's hit movie Barbie failed to impress, he said: "Yo, shut up. You’re kidding me right? Slow down, I wrote some of these and they are the ones you are laughing at." Check out Koy's awkward Barbie joke at the Golden Globes:

Well, last night, it was the turn of Koy's ex Chelsea Handler to take to the stage, as she was hosting the 29th annual Critics Choice Awards.

For those who may be unaware, Handler and Koy had been friends for two decades before entering into a relationship back in 2021. Sadly, they split after just one year together. And during her opening monologue, it wasn't long before the 48-year-old comedian and actress took a savage shot at Koy.

Check it out below:

During last night's ceremony, Handler began discussing older male Hollywood stars - describing Harrison Ford and Robert De Niro as "total smoke shows".

"Unfortunately, Martin Scorsese isn’t here tonight, but that’s not going to stop me from letting everyone in this room know that I would toss him around like a little Italian meatball," she then joked, before quipping: "Thank you for laughing at that. My writers wrote it" - a thinly veiled dig at Koy's repeated defensive claims from the week before.

But, unlike Koy, Handler's joke resulted in applause and laughter from the celebs in the room.

After Koy was accused of throwing his joke writers under the bus, he backtracked on his comments during an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

"I love my writers. I love all three of them and I shouted them out. And I told them like that was a moment right there where I’m just grasping. I love them and I can’t stop talking about them in every interview,” he said. "They busted their a**, man.

"There’s a lot of greats that make rookie moves. That was a rookie move. Those writers are dope and that was not my intention at all. They were amazing, they had my back and I need to make sure I fix that and I will, I always will."

Since the Golden Globes, Koy has also taken a shot at the celebrities in attendance for not laughing at his gags, describing them as "marshmallows".

Speaking at a stand-up show in St. Louis, Missouri, Koy humorously critiqued the audience, saying, via the LA Times: "Lot of marshmallows, man. They're delicious, but goddamn, they're soft.

"I just come from a different time. I see the changes that are happening. I get it, but goddamn, can we f***ing laugh at ourselves?"
