A BBC news presenter who was caught giving the middle finger on live television has explained why she was doing it in the first place.

In the world of live TV, things can go wrong and the audience will usually be quite forgiving... unless you're caught swearing and then people will mercilessly share it across social media.

This is what has happened to one unfortunate BBC newsreader who was caught giving the middle finger on TV, and it's doing the rounds online.

Maryam Moshiri was set to deliver the BBC News at 12:00PM UK time on Wednesday, but as the cameras switched to the studio it appeared to catch her off guard as she flipped off the camera with a smile on her face.

After realizing what had happened, and probably with her stomach doing flips, she continued reading the headlines without any reference to what the cameras had just captured.

Naturally, people were left pretty stunned by what they had seen, so Moshiri took to social media to explain what happened.

She penned: "Hey everyone, yesterday just before the top of the hour I was joking around a bit with the team in the gallery.

"I was pretending to count down as the director was counting me down from 10-0. including the fingers to show the number. So from 10 fingers held up to one.

"When we got to 1 I turned finger around as a joke and did not realise that this would be caught on camera.

"It was a private joke with the team and I’m so sorry it went out on air! It was not my intention for this to happen and I’m sorry if I offended or upset anyone. I wasn’t 'flipping the bird' at viewers or even a person really.

"It was a silly joke that was meant for a small number of my mates."

It remains unclear whether Moshiri got into trouble about her on-screen faux pas, though it's presumed that she got reminded to remain professional at all times.

This isn't the first time this has happened, and I dare say it won't be the last, as back in 2010 an unfortunate weatherman was caught flipping his middle finger and styled it off terribly.

The BBC was forced to apologize after Tomasz Schafernaker flipped off newsreader Simon McCoy after he jokingly told him that his forecast would be "100 percent accurate".

After realizing that he had been caught on camera, Schafernaker decided to act like he was scratching the side of his face... and it just made everything a bit worse.

"The News Channel presenter in the studio acknowledged a mistake had been made, and we apologise for any offence caused," a spokesperson for the BBC said.

"Tomasz was not aware that he was on air, and whilst the gesture was only shown for a second, it was not acceptable."

Following the mistake, McCoy said on air: "Every now and again there's always a mistake and that was it."

Schafernaker wrote after the event: "Prior to a live weather bulletin, I made a gesture off camera joking with my fellow presenters and without warning the camera went live to the weather studio. I am very sorry for any offence that might have been caused by my actions."

Best just to sit on your hands when live on air!

Kelly Clarkson has been called out over her shower habits, but given that some have defended her, it might not be as "gross" as some think.

Everyone has habits that they would prefer not to share with the world because let's be honest, nobody is perfect.

That being said, most people claim that they prefer honest people... but it turns out that there might be such a thing as being too honest as Clarkson has found out.

In a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the 41-year-old US talk show host opened up about her unique shower routine.

Sitting down with Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson, the singer began by stating that she brushes her teeth in the shower... which doesn't sound too strange to me.

"Here’s the thing. I don’t regularly brush my teeth in the shower. I just do if I’m in a hurry," she said. "Now, I do happen to be in a hurry often."

The revelations didn't stop there as Clarkson also revealed that she pees in the shower, which I reckon a lot of people have done without admitting it.

Although starting by saying: "I find [that] to be gross," Thompson seemed to understand the habit, saying: "I would lie if I said I had never done it, but I try not to. I’m not against it. I’ve not never done it. I’ve done it. But when I do do it, I always feel so ashamed."

Clarkson replied: "No, but you can’t help it. It goes back to that childhood sleepover, they put your hand in the hot water, and sometimes you pee. The hot water hits your body and - not every time, but, like, if I’ve gotta go."

So how did these revelations go down online? Well, some people were not overly impressed.

"Some things are just better left unsaid," one person said with a sick emoji, while a second wrote under the YouTube video: "Wait … So, would you pee in a bath as well?! I mean.. hot water and everything."

Others were quick to come to Clarkson's defense, as one person said: "I thought brushing your teeth in the shower was normal… is it not?"

A second commented under the video: "Oh, Kelly, you unfiltered queen. I freaking love her so much," while a third said: "Open book Kelly. Relatable, down to earth fun Kelly!!! Love this lady so much!!!"

Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with brushing your teeth in the shower, and peeing is a personal choice!

Just make sure you don't leave any behind for whoever uses the shower next...

Shannon Sharpe has spoken out after he accidentally live-streamed during an X-rated moment with a female.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer and ESPN star, 56, left fans stunned after he went live on Instagram to his 3.2 million followers by accident.

Almost 5,000 people tuned in to his live before realising that the podcaster had actually switched it on by accident while having sex, after hearing him and a female companion moaning.

Sharpe had initially put out a statement claiming his account had been hacked, but later deleted it and confessed that the accident had indeed been him.

Viewers had clipped the footage and shared it online, and although Sharpe and his unnamed companion were not visible in the video, moans could be heard throughout.

His fans flooded the comments to voice their shock, and many urged any of his friends watching to call Sharpe and make him aware that he was streaming his bedroom antics to the public.

After his sexual encounter was made public, Sharpe had initially posted on X to tell fans he was hacked, before later confessing it was really down to his lack of technical knowledge that the awkward incident occurred.

Speaking during an emergency episode of Nightcap, Sharpe addressed the situation, admitting: "Obviously I am embarrassed. Someone that is extremely, extremely private and to have one of your most intimate details – the audio – heard for the entire world to hear, I’m embarrassed for a number of reasons.

"There are a lot of people that count on Shannon to be professional at all times and I always try to be professional at all times, even when I’m behind closed doors."

He added: "I’m very disappointed in myself, not for the act. I think there are millions and billions of people of consenting age that engage in activities, but for the audio to be heard I’m disappointed in myself. I let a lot of people down."

Revealing how he accidentally went live, Sharpe said: "I threw my phone on the bed, engaged in an activity.

"I did not know IG live. I’ve never turned IG live on so I don’t know how it works and all of sudden my other phone started going off."

Sharpe's marketing partner Jamie Fritz was the first person to get ahold of him and alerted him of what was happening, before another person eventually ended the live video for him.

He added: "My phone wasn’t hacked. It wasn’t a prank, it was me being a healthy, active male. Ya’ll thought I was bulljiving, Unc get it in."

His co-host, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, also revealed that Sharpe - whose nickname is 'Unc' - has never been great with his phone and has butt-dialed him several times in the past without knowing it.

Johnson also made light of the situation, adding: "I’m baffled. I never thought I’d see the day where you, Unc, would pull something so out of character.

"A little unprofessional. I’m not mad, I’m thoroughly disappointed because I hold you to a higher standard. The type of standard you just tried to chastise me for just Saturday. So this has really sent me into a complete shock."

Thankfully, it seems Sharpe is able to see the lighter side of the situation - and that the phone wasn't angled in a more incriminating direction!

A woman has gone viral after appearing on a news program with something very NSFW in the background.

Now, as we all know, as a result of the ongoing pandemic, video calls have become a part of our day-to-day lives, which is why it's of the utmost importance to ensure that nothing you wouldn't want your colleagues to see is lurking in your background.

But unfortunately for Yvette Amos, who appeared on BBC Wales to discuss unemployment during the pandemic, she forgot to check her shelves.

As she explained how she was being "passed over" for jobs, viewers couldn't help but notice the pink dildo on the shelf behind her, which was hilariously lurking over her right shoulder, taking pride of place on that side of the screen.

The sex toy appeared to have been given pride of place between books and board games.

Needless to say, viewers of the segment were tickled, well, pink by the incident, and it wasn't long before it went viral on social media.

David Roberts tweeted: "This lady has just been live on BBC Wales News. I think she should maybe have checked her top shelf first!"

An Australian television presenter has issued an apology to Adele and her fans after turning up to an interview with the star without listening to her new album.

Weekend Sunrise Matt Doran made headlines around the world last week after he sat down for a one-on-one interview with the 'Rolling In The Deep' singer. Initial reports claimed that Adele "walked out" of the interview after Doran failed to ask a "single question" about the album. Further reports stated that Doran had subsequently been pulled from the Weekend Sunrise show for two weeks as a result.

Per the Daily Telegraph, Sony did record the interview but have refused to release the footage.

Now, 37-year-old Doran has issued an on-air apology during the most recent episode of Weekend Sunrise, as well as revealing his version of events.

Speaking directly to the camera, Doran admitted that he does "deserve" the "bulk of the savaging", but insists that the situation was all down to a "terrible mistake".

Doran continued: "I flew to London to interview Adele, an unspeakable privilege and what was to be one of the highlights of my career.

"I made the terrible mistake of assuming we weren't to be given a preview a copy of this album, because our interview was airing before it was released and Adele's album was the industry's most-prized secret."

However, the presenter then revealed that after landing in London, he did receive a link to the album in an email from Sony. He claims it did not mention Adele and came through the evening prior to the interview taking place.

"The genuine, dead-set, hand on heart truth is that I missed it. By an absurdly long margin, the most important email I've ever missed in my life," Doran said.

Doran then insisted that Adele never walked out of the interview - but rather, the pair actually went overtime. “Adele didn’t walk out," he said.

"At least half of the interview focused squarely on the new music," Doran said, insisting that he believed it would be "reductive" to discuss the album being purely about her divorce from ex-husband Simon Konecki.

Instead, Doran said that his angle on the album was "about empowerment", adding how it "would inspire to summon the courage to steer their lives in a new direction."

He continued:

"We spoke of the paradox of being one of the world’s most famous artists, but hating fame. And the concept of pure artistry,” he told viewers.

"We also discussed at length the majesty of Adele’s voice, what it must be like to hear that come out of one’s own mouth, how Easy On Me was conceived … and how her album helped repair her relationship with her now-late father.

"Throughout the 29 minutes, she was very funny, then raw... Adele was profound, then honest about her depression - honest enough to describe it as ‘end-of-the-world stuff’."

Doran then issued an apology directly to Adele and her Australian fans, saying: "By missing the album link, however I might try to justify it, I’ve insulted Adele.

"To Adele, I say, I’d never knowingly have disrespected you by deliberately not listening to your work, I am so sorry. I also apologize to Adele’s Australian fans, and to you, our viewers, who – through my error – have been denied this interview and the insight into her character."
