Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson have recently gotten tongues wagging amid the release of their new movie The Naked Gun.
As the movie's press tour continues, Neeson and Anderson have sparked a rumor mill over whether or not they're actually in a relationship off-screen. Some believe they are, given their undeniable chemistry, whereas others believe they are simply performing for the cameras to drum up publicity for the movie.
Regardless, the relationship between the two (whatever that may be) has been met with warmth and approval from the family of Neeson's late wife, Natasha Richardson — most notably her sister, actress Joely Richardson.
Joely publicly expressed her support for the pair with seven heart emojis under a post on Anderson’s Instagram, where the Baywatch star shared a series of affectionate photos alongside Neeson as they promoted their new film.
A Subtle Yet Meaningful Endorsement
“The Naked Gun is finally in theatres! Bring your friends, family, lovers… whoever… just go and have a laugh… it’s good for you! I’ll see you there,” Anderson wrote on August 1, alongside playful snaps of Neeson sprinkling popcorn over her head.
Richardson responded with a cascade of red hearts—a subtle but unmistakable endorsement of her brother-in-law’s blossoming relationship.
The gesture was especially poignant given Neeson's deep ties to the Richardson family. He and Natasha married in 1994 after falling in love during a Broadway revival of Anna Christie. They shared 15 years of marriage and had two sons, Micheál and Daniel, before Natasha tragically passed away in 2009 following a skiing accident in Quebec.
Liam and Pamela’s Chemistry Sparks Romance Talk
Speculation around Neeson and Anderson’s relationship has only intensified since they began promoting their film.
At the Naked Gun premiere in London on July 22, the pair appeared close, with Anderson planting a kiss on Neeson's cheek during their red carpet photo call. A week later in New York, the duo were joined by their children — Anderson’s sons Dylan and Brandon Lee, and Neeson’s sons Micheál and Daniel Jack — as they posed together for photos.
Their chemistry spilled over into TV appearances, where the actors appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Anderson was seen applying lip balm to Neeson's lips before the host playfully asked, “What’s going on between the two of you?”
“I’m Madly in Love With Her”
Though they’ve played coy about officially confirming their relationship, both stars have been openly affectionate in interviews. Asked what they admire most about each other, Anderson said Neeson is “so kind and generous,” while Neeson praised Anderson’s “spirit,” saying, “She’s a giggler like me, and I love that", The Independent reports.
Neeson has also been effusive in previous interviews. “With Pamela, first off, I'm madly in love with her,” he told PEOPLE last October. “She’s just terrific to work with. I can't compliment her enough. No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She's funny and so easy to work with.”
Anderson echoed the sentiment, telling Today in July, “We definitely have a connection that is very sincere, very loving… I have a friend forever.”
Still, both stars have sidestepped confirming anything too definitive. “What? I don’t understand the question,” Neeson joked during another interview. “Let’s not mould this. Let’s just let it breathe.”
Family Support from All Sides
Joely Richardson’s response adds to a growing list of family members rooting for the pair. In addition to Daniel Jack Neeson voicing his support live on-air, Pamela Anderson’s sons have been present throughout the film’s promotion, often smiling in group photos with Neeson and his sons.
Joely - best known for her roles in Nip/Tuck and The Patriot - has been candid in the past about the grief of losing her sister. On her 60th birthday earlier this year, she shared a touching tribute on Instagram: “Why wouldn’t I be happy to be turning sixty? All the years and decades in between were LIVED.”
A Shared Spotlight in The Naked Gun
Neeson, 73, and Anderson, 58, play leads in The Naked Gun, a reboot of the cult slapstick franchise originally led by the late Leslie Nielsen. Neeson stars as Frank Drebin Jr., while Anderson plays Beth. The film also features Kevin Durand, Paul Walter Hauser, current WWE champion Cody Rhodes, and former UFC champion Michael Bisping.
In character and off-camera, the stars’ dynamic has drawn attention for all the right reasons — laughter, lightness, and chemistry that feels genuine. But what do you think? Are these two really an item? Let us know in the comments.
