LeBron James teased his retirement, but it turned out to be something completely different

Fans thought LeBron James was set to announce his retirement, but instead, it was actually a prank.

James had teased fans with the announcement of ‘the second decision’ leading to all sorts of speculation, but in the end it was a bit of a letdown.

Instead of ‘ the decision of all decisions, ’ fans got… something a bit disappointing.

LeBron was recreating a classic from his past

This whole scene is a bit of a remake of LeBron’s famous Boys and Girls Club scene during which he announced his move from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Miami Heat, that was all the way back in 2010, but this time the outcome wasn’t a change of uniform on the basketball court, but a change of drink.

That’s because all of this was an advert for Hennessey VSOP.

In the video shared today, the four-time NBA champ was expected to announce that he was retiring after a record 23rd NBA season, appearing nervous when being asked where he was ‘taking his talents’.

Showing a clear knack for acting - which he showed in Space Jam, sort of - James hit back: "In this fall, I'm going to be taking my talents to Hennessy VSOP."

Well done, LeBron.

If they wanted a viral ad campaign, they certainly got it.

James has even done this before, teasing an advert for Amazon instead.

So, he’s set to carry on regardless, unless he’s planning to spring a surprise retirement out of the blue.
