Tom Hanks has paid tribute to Lisa Marie Presley following the announcement of her tragic death aged 54.
It was reported that the 'I'll Figure It Out' singer suffered a suspected cardiac arrest at her home in Calabasas, California.
According to reports from TMZ. her former husband Danny Keough was beside her and continued to perform CPR until medical professionals arrived at the scene and administered at least one dose of epinephrine during the resuscitation process.
At the time, Lisa's mother Priscilla Presley, took to Twitter to give her fans an update, writing: "My beloved daughter Lisa Marie was rushed to the hospital. She is now receiving the best care. Please keep her and our family in your prayers. We feel the prayers from around the world, and ask for privacy during this time."
Hours later it was announced that the 54-year-old had passed away, with a representative requesting privacy for the family.
"Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love, and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time," they said in a statement.
Since then, tributes have been pouring in, including from Tom Hanks - who played Elvis's manager Colonel Tom Parker in the 2022 biopic about the singer's life alongside Austin Butler in the titular role.
Tom and his wife Rita Wilson shared their sorrow in an emotional post on Instagram, telling fans: "Our hearts are broken with the sudden and shocking passing of Lisa Marie Presley tonight. Tom and I had spent some time with the family during the Elvis movie promotional tour."
They went on to describe the late singer as "honest and direct, vulnerable, in a state of anticipation about the movie," adding that "she spoke so eloquently about her father."
The post continued: "She had her gorgeous daughters Finley and Harper with her who made us all laugh. She privately showed us her home, Graceland, and she made it feel like home to us. She was so gracious to us, Austin [Butler], Baz [Luhrmann], and guests. If you haven’t heard her music please go listen. She had a sultry voice, a power and tenderness, that I have always loved.
"Our hearts and our prayers go out to Riley, Harper, Finley, Danny @nava_rone and Priscilla. A mother should never have to lose a child. Lisa Marie lost her precious son Benjamin, Priscilla loses her only daughter. It’s too much. Sending love to the family, prayers for peace and strength," it concluded.
Over on Tom's personal Instagram account, the 66-year-old actor also published his own tribute, stating that he was "heartbroken" over the sudden loss.
"We are heartbroken over the loss of Lisa Marie Presley. Absolutely broken..." He wrote alongside a photograph of Lisa.
So far, no official cause of death has been revealed.
Rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.
